About This coach

So far, I have been married for 40 years, a mother for 35 years, homeschooled my children for a total of 25 years, a grandmother for 9 years, a retired LPN, and Montessori Teacher Assistant, and now Certified Parent Coach. I have plenty of relationship experiences.  I truly always try to be a gentle, kind, and supportive guide.

I began being passionate about parenting while reading Child Development and Parenting books in Nursing School.  I was learning about discipline using consequences, time outs, and commands using a stern, firm voice but it was all just punishments in disguise.  I hated the discipline/punishment part of parenting because it made me feel awful but I thought I had to do these things if didn't want my kids to "get away with stuff," grow up to be immature, unreliable, and unhappy.

It was controlling children, not respecting and teaching them skills of healthy relationships. But I did not know what else to do. I knew I had to find something better because I felt punishing (yelling, bribes, time outs, wanting my kids to do as I told them to immediately and made-up consequences), were hurting our relationship. I also noticed that punishment was making my children feel angry (which they would try to stuff down), and unsafe and it did not work in the long run.

I'd love to coach parents and grandparents through an amazing, truly transformational course that gives the tools for peaceful, joyful, deeply connected, cooperative parenting without punishment or permissiveness.

In my free time, I enjoy playing with my grandchildren, visiting my children, hiking, biking, listening to beautiful love songs and taking long walks with my beloved while we dream about a future where all children feel unconditionally cherished and our world is a more peaceful place.

What Makes THEM Special?

I bring with me a background in biology and child development, as I am an LPN turned stay-at-home mom and a Montessori Teacher Assistant. My oldest grandchild is 9 years old, and my passion for parenting, love of being a grandparent and my relentless search to find something gentler, and more effective led me to the Jai Institute for Parenting. I hope to share my compassion and kindness and all that I've learned to coach other grandparents and parents to truly create the family relationships that bring peace, joy, connection, emotional intelligence and cooperation to them, their children, grandchildren and all their family members for generations into the future.
