About This coach

When I became a mother, I knew in every fiber of my being that I wanted to step outside the social norms I was raised with. I'd had the realization that a lot of my success and “good behavior” stemmed from fear – I deeply wanted my daughter to have a more nourishing foundation for her life: a deep knowing that she was loveable and acceptable as her true self; the ability to navigate her feelings in a healthy way; a sense of being at home both in herself and in the world; and the skills and tools to live a life of joy, meaning, and inner freedom.

Once my daughter was born, I was frequently crushed by how hard and confusing it was to enact this shift. While my heart and intellect understood the changes I was trying to make, my body and emotions were jammed up with conditioning and unresolved painful childhood experiences. While my daughter and I have always been close, my inner discord created tension, and made parenting exhausting for me.  I was passing along my fear of my emotions and inner disconnect, and it was breaking my heart, even as others called me a “great mom.”

Becoming a single parent, and then having my daughter home full-time in the pandemic pushed me into untenable levels of parenting stress. I started searching for support and found the Jai Institute. I knew their approach to parenting matched what was in my heart, and decided to heal on the path to becoming the support for other parents that I had sorely needed myself. Two years and 40+ weeks of intensive coach training later, I am living my dream of homeschooling my daughter (which I would never have thought possible!) and finding great joy in passing on to other parents the loving support they deeply need and deserve.

When I’m not coaching, you can find me walking in the woods with my daughter, making art, camping, singing and writing songs, and being a goof-ball with my family.

What Makes THEM Special?

In 2000, I lost my health to chronic fatigue syndrome and have lived with chronic illness ever since.  This has made me especially sensitive to the needs of folks who've found themselves on the wrong side of our culture's rampant ableism.  I know first hand how hard it can be for all of us to admit where we feel we are falling short of all the achievement and busy-ness and shiny-ness that surrounds us. In my experience, so many parents are hiding their hurts and perceived shortcomings because our culture puts such a high premium on success and productivity.  For all my clients -- regardless of health status -- my experience with chronic illness has helped to shape me into an especially empathetic, safe, and truly non-judgemental coach.  I am also a single mom, and particularly attuned to the special challenges related to solo parenting.

My coaching is strengthened by a background in counseling -- I have two years of training and experience as a Psychosynthesis counselor.  I've had to work hard on nervous system regulation as part of managing my health issues, and I bring those tools to my coaching as well.
