About This coach
Over the past 18 years, I have worked in a number of different primary schools as a Class Teacher, Deputy Head Teacher and Head Teacher. In 2007, a training program with a company called "Chrysalis" completely revolutionized my teaching approach, revealing the crucial connection between emotions and behaviour, and taught me how to respond to children EFFECTIVELY, rather than from a place of reactivity . This quickly became my passion and as a teacher, I was skilled at "reaching the unreachable" and creating connection where others had found conflict.
I became a Mum in 2018 when I welcomed my son, Matthew, in to the world. I knew I wanted to the best possible Mum for him but I quickly found a disparity between theory and real-life parenting!! I was taken aback by my own reactivity, which had been so absent in my role as a teacher. I knew I had to change something and I started down a path of self-care, regulation and wellbeing.
As I grew in my role as Head Teacher, I shifted my focus from supporting the children in my care, to supporting the parents. I worked closely with a variety of professionals from health, social work, psychology and speech therapy to advocate for the best solutions for the families in our care. This quickly became my favourite part of the job and I realised it was this that I wanted to do on a full time basis. I found Jai in 2022 and quickly knew that their philosophy was the perfect blend of science backed parenting, with realistic self care and regulation practices to enable parents to ACTUALLY be able to implement what they were learning.
Working as a Parent Coach is my dream job. It merges all my passions into one role, enabling me to utilise my knowledge, skills, and experience to offer support and guidance to others. Currently, my main focus is on helping parents handle their reactivity, set clear and nurturing boundaries for their children, and address their children's needs and emotions proactively rather than reacting to their behaviour. If this resonates with you and you aspire to do the same, I would be delighted to be a part of your journey.
What Makes THEM Special?
I have spent the last 18 years working in primary schools as a Teacher, Deputy Head Teacher and Head Teacher. Over the years, I uncovered a real passion for children who struggle to regulate their emotions, and parents who struggle with understanding why on earth they are behaving like that! My niche in school became working with children who were at risk of exclusion, or those who were neurodivergent and struggling in the school system, and turning things around for them and their families. The more children I supported, the more I came to understand that the best thing we could do for these children (and for all children!), was to support their parents. I offer a safe and empathic space where parents can be honest about how hard things have become, and can be supported towards a better future. I am calm in a crisis, find humour in the toughest of situations and have an unflinching belief that there is ALWAYS a better way.
