About This coach

I am a dad to two beautiful children, i.e. one 12-year-old daughter and one 3-year-old boy.  I used to lead an extremely busy corporate life being a senior executive in multinational companies, and my inability to find a healthy balance between work and family eventually had serious negative implications in my family life.  I knew I had to do something, and in my search for parenting help, I found the Jai Institute for Parenting and I eventually completed their certification program as a Certified Parenting Coach.

I love being able to practice what I learn in the field of parenting, and I find that I love being a coach and helping other parents who are struggling with parenting challenges like I used to be and am still struggling.

I believe that almost all parenting problems can be alleviated if parents are willing to start looking for solutions within the parents themselves instead of hoping or wanting the change to come from the children.  I always say that if we as parents are not able to solve our parenting problems, then expecting the solution to come from our children is almost like wishing for miracles.

Even if the issues clearly seem to be focused on the children, I still believe there are lots that we as parents can do without placing our expectations and hope solely on our children to make improvements or changes.

When we as parents take good care of ourselves, we definitely stand a much greater chance of helping our children and enjoying the relationship with our children, and even cherishing ourselves and our children just as they are.

When I'm not coaching, I enjoy playing tennis, watching films and vacationing with my family.  Nowadays, I also allocate my time to teach English as a foreign language to young children in China as well as learning more about coaching and personal development skills that I can apply in my coaching practice.Jermain Yew used to lead an extremely busy corporate life being a senior executive in multinational companies, and his inability to find a healthy balance between work and family eventually had serious negative implications in his family life. Jermain knew he had to do something, and in his search for parenting help, he was called to become a parenting coach through the Jai Institute for Parenting.

Jermain believes that when we as parents take good care of ourselves, we stand a much greater chance of helping and enjoying the relationship we have with our children. It lights Jermain up to be able to help other parents through struggles he’s experienced in the past or is struggling with currently in his own parenting.

Due to Jermain’s background and life experiences, he has a deep understanding of the dynamics and special situations faced by parents who have families from Western and Eastern cultures, especially those from the US and Chinese ethnic backgrounds.

Jermain also connects with parents in the corporate world, especially dads who are struggling to find a balance between work and family, due to his experiences in the corporate world and years being a stay at home dad.
