About This coach

I identify as a Chinese-Canadian married working mother of two. Having struggled with Shouldaholicism all my life, I suffered a massive breakdown due to not Doing the Work. Now, I just want those taking a similar path as I did to Do the Work so that they do not have to have a breakdown in order to learn the lessons I learned.

With 20 years of experience in student services management at Canada's top university, I felt a deep calling to work with parents BEFORE their children started post-secondary education in a rigorous academic environment on their own. High pressure environments tend to bring out the unprocessed trauma and childhood wounds of young adults on their own for the first time and I watched too many young adults suffer from mental health challenges.

Initially I was motivated to change parents to be supportive rather than demanding of their children, but now I am more focused on helping them connect the dots to their own upbringing, values, and beliefs. The Jai Parent Coaching Certificate Program opened my eyes to how I could be of service in a way that aligns with MY values and beliefs.

A downtown girl, I love walking around my city in our parks and near the lake. During my free time, I interview guests around the world for my Sandwich Parenting podcast and make short videos for my YouTube channel, A Diary of a Recovering Shouldaholic. My family and I  enjoy watching TV series together, walking around the city, and playing board games.

What Makes THEM Special?

Also a certified trauma recovery coach, I work with moms around the world to develop a parenting approach that works for their own unique set of circumstances. My clients tend to be working Asian mothers who struggle with balancing cultural/societal pressures from the previous generation and a deep desire to consciously/peacefully/respectfully parent the next generation.

My approach is very down-to-earth, customized, and practical. My clients work on one small thing at time, creating subtle but deep shifts in their lives. We focus on sustainable and flexible approaches that positively impact their relationships with their children and partners.
